Client: Withheld
Location: Crossroads District, Kansas City, Missouri, U.S.A.
Situation: An international caliber infrastructure development client looked out of our old location's office window and remarked how many vacant lots there were along Main St. Clearly a mixed use development study to identify a vision to overcome this bleak issue was in order.
Solution: We’ve come up with infrastructure and open space concepts to fill in the missing teeth and solidify Main St. into a viable and dense urban corridor between downtown and Crown Center. Along with street level retail, we’ve designed into the scheme the potential for a major corporate facility of up to 2 million square feet.
Quick Facts: At last count there were 26 vacant lots between 12th St. and Crown Center. We looked to Indianapolis’ City Centre Mall and Chicago’s Magnificent Mile as precedents.
Closing Arguments: Interestingly, the distance between 12th St. and Crown Center is nearly identical to the very walkable length of the Magnificent Mile, with Crossroads smack-dab in the middle. We believe this is nothing but a win-win scenario, but of course we’re biased since our offices, new and old, would be in the middle of it all. |
